The Map & Imagery Laboratory (MIL), located in the Davidson Library, has computers exclusively reserved for work on digital spatial data.  This resource is available free of charge to any UC-affiliated persons (faculty, staff, enrolled student) working on UC-related research or class projects that utilize spatial data (this DOES NOT include consulting work or any other for-profit work done by otherwise qualified persons).  Since much of the equipment and software is partially or wholly donated for the expressed purpose of education and research, there are absolutely no exceptions to the terms of use.  As noted above, there is a PC workststion available for the general public, specifically for use of U.S. depository items.

The equipment in MIL's computer facility encompasses two major areas of spatial data work: Image Processing and Geographic Information Systems.  There are 2 Windows XP workstations.  These workstations run ArcGIS 9.3 and Leica Geosystems ERDAS Imagine 9.3.  These computers are not backed up and it is the user's responsibility to back-up all data they wish to keep. The harddrives on these computers may be erased at any time.
