COMPUTER USE IN THE MAP
& IMAGERY LABORATORY
The Map & Imagery Laboratory (MIL),
located in the Davidson Library, has computers exclusively reserved for work on
digital spatial data. This resource is available free of charge to any
UC-affiliated persons (faculty, staff, enrolled student) working on UC-related
research or class projects that utilize spatial data (this DOES NOT include
consulting work or any other for-profit work done by otherwise qualified
persons). There are PC workstations available to the general public for
using digital data received on
MIL PC WORKSTATION COMPUTERS:
MIL has 4 Windows XP workstations. For
a listing of applications software, see the Computing
and Digital Data Access Info Sheet. If you need
assistance or to make an appointment to reserve a computer, contact the MIL reference staff via email
or by telephone at (805) 893-2779.
SIGNING UP FOR COMPUTER TIME:
To ensure the availablilty
of a computer, please make an appointment prior to visiting the MIL.
Reservations will be held for 15 minutes after the start of the
reservation. The MIL computers are available for use during department
hours only. MIL is open weekdays, Monday through Friday from 9am - 5pm.
MIL is not open weekends. During fall, winter, and spring quarters, while
classes are in session, MIL will be open until 8pm Monday through Thursday
evenings.
The Map & Imagery Laboratory DOES NOT back up
the disk drives of these workstations.
USERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BACKING UP THEIR OWN
DATA FILES!
Disks may be erased at any time.
NO SMOKING, DRINKING, OR EATING IS
ALLOWED
IN THE COMPUTER LABORATORY

The MIL is a closed-stack collection, most MIL materials do not circulate. Fees for
access to the imagery and digital data collection are charged to those persons
not performing
