USE OF THE
APPLICATIONS SOFTWARE
If you are
unfamiliar with the use of the applications software:
Before embarking on a GIS or
Image Processing project, you should be familiar with the applications software
you will be using as well as the fundamental data model concepts used. Also,
you will need to become familiar with the particular commands or routines you
will be using within the software to import, process and analyze your data.
First, consult with your advisor, professor, or TA. Finally, check with an MIL
staff member for a list of persons who are available for tutoring. MIL staff is
unfortunately unable to provide training in applications software. However, all
applications software has on-line help, the lab has a complete set of software
manuals, and staff can assist with technical calls to software vendors. There
are also many on-line tutorials, email listserv groups, and FAQs available for
consultation.
